We offer the latest medical, surgical & laser management of cataracts.
Service Description
A cataract is a clouding or haziness of the normally clear lens of your eye. This part of the eye helps focus light on the retina, where images are formed. This condition affects more than 22 million Americans aged 40 and over. While aging is the most common cause of cataracts, there are other causes including previous eye injury or surgery and prolonged use of medications such as Prednisone or other steroids. Once a cataract has progressed to a level that affects functional vision such as driving, reading and overall quality of life, cataract surgery is recommended. Dr. Beri is a highly experienced surgeon who can help guide you through this process and improve your vision. Cataract surgery is done in an outpatient surgical center with the latest equipment and an experienced, caring staff. Patients with acute eye problems and pre-existing eye conditions (such as cataracts) will undergo a medical eye exam, which is different from the comprehensive (routine) eye exam. At Beri Eye Care, an office visit for a medical eye examination will take 1.5 to 2 hours. To learn more about cataracts, please visit the American Academy of Ophthalmology website.
